This dataset presents the historic landscape character of England at a national level in a 500m-scale grid format. The data is extracted from a dataset of merged sub-regional HLCs. This merged data has then been processed to generalise the data into 500m grid squares, removing the original polygon boundaries. The NHLC can support in identifying the location and extent of priority historic character types and characteristics. Attribution statement: © Natural England copyright.
