Summary

Location of Air Quality Monitoring Stations within Sandwell Metropolitan Borough. The Council has a duty under the Environment Act 1995 to review and assess air quality within it's borough. In order to fulfil its obligations, Sandwell Council maintains a network of automatic air quality monitoring stations which continously measure key air pollutant concentrations. Monitoring is currently undertaken for nitrogen dioxide, particulate matter, sulphur dioxide and ozone. Monitoring results are fully ratified and compared to the National Air Quality Objectives in order to determine whether there are exceedances of the objectives.
