South Lakes Safari Ltd in Dalton, trading as the Safari Zoo, is licensed by the Council under the Zoo Licensing Act 1981. It is subject to periodic formal inspections led by Inspectors approved by the Animal Health and Veterinary Laboratories Agency who are an agency of the Department for Environment, Food, and Rural Affairs [DEFRA].
On 17th and 18th November 2015 the Zoo was inspected as required by the Zoo Licensing Act 1981 to cover both the periodical inspection and to consider the renewal of the Zoo License which expires in June 2016. A copy of the Inspection form can be found attached to this dataset.
