Summary

The use of oil spill treatment products (including dispersants) in waters of 20 metres depth or less, or within 1nm of any such area requires approval from the licensing authority. For England and Wales, the MMO are the relevant licensing authority. A standing approval is an agreement between ourselves, as the licensing authority and a port or harbour authority, that specific oil treatment products may be used under certain conditions and in specific areas, without permission from the MMO. Standing approvals exist at the locations within this shapefile.
