Summary

The HALOGEN (History, Archaeology, Linguistics, Onomastics and GENetics) database provides tabulated data from a cross-disciplinary research database which has been compiled, cleaned and reorganised from a number of different data sources. These data sources are from the Portable Antiquities Scheme (PAS), the Key to English Placenames (KEPN) and a genetics/surname database from the University of Leicester (GUL). Data is georeferenced to British National Grid and in some cases data is reported at 1km granular resolution. These data were originally compiled to support the 'Roots of the British' project at the University of Leicester. Links to documentation on the project are provided and interested parties can also contact IT services at the University of Leicester for further information.
