Backpack camping is permitted on some of Dartmoor’s commons (please check the camping map on the DNPA website - https://www.dartmoor.gov.uk/about-us/about-us-maps/camping-map Click the Backpack Camping Resource link below to download the latest version of the data in various formats. Please remember if you are planning a backpack camp you should check where you can and are encouraged to backpack camp on the camping map first and follow leave no trace principles. How do I backpack camp (wild camp)? Backpack camping means carrying your own equipment as part of your walk and staying one or two nights max. You may camp overnight in certain areas highlighted on the map and provided you follow the Code of Conduct No overnight stays in vehicles, campervans or motorhomes. No large tents or large groups camping. Leave no trace - don't light fires and take all rubbish home.
